Erscheinung:04.02.2015 Elisabeth Roegele succeeds Karl-Burkhard Caspari as head of securities supervision
Elisabeth Roegele is to become BaFin’s new Chief Executive Director for securities supervision. The Federal Cabinet decided today, Wednesday 4 February 2015, that Roegele should take over from Karl-Burkhard Caspari, who is retiring, on 1 May.
Roegele is no stranger to BaFin: before moving to DekaBank in December 2006 she was head of the Ad Hoc Disclosure section in Frankfurt. She is currently general counsel and head of the corporate centre for legal affairs at DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale. Before joining BaFin, Roegele’s other jobs included being a member of the Management Board of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, where she was responsible for market regulation, information technology, personnel matters and the development of derivatives trading. Prior to that, she worked in the legal department of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall and in the Exchange Supervisory Office of the Hesse Ministry of Economic Affairs.
“Because of the many regulatory projects, securities supervision is a particularly exciting area at present and I look forward very much to the challenges associated with this”, said Roegele of the Federal Cabinet’s decision. “In addition, I also look forward, of course, to working closely together again at BaFin with its many highly respected members of staff.”
The 47-year-old lawyer also holds a Masters Degree in European and International Business Law from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. In addition, she has taken the Frankfurt Stock Exchange trader’s exam.
