Where personal data are collected via BaFin's website, BaFin processes and uses this information only for specified purposes and in accordance with data protection law.

Each time BaFin's website is accessed, this is stored in a log file. The following data are stored in the log file:

  • The IP address of the computer accessing the BaFin website
  • The name of the file retrieved
  • The date and time of the retrieval
  • The amount of data transferred
  • The message as to whether the retrieval was successful

The data stored in the log file are analysed by BaFin in anonymised form and solely for statistical purposes and to improve BaFin's Internet portal. They are not passed on to third parties. The data are thus no longer available for further use.

BaFin's website uses session cookies to improve navigation. These cookies do not contain any personal data and will expire after each browser session.

BaFin's website offers users an opportunity to order publications or newsletters, to file complaints and to contact BaFin generally. If you want to take up these offers, you will be asked to enter personal data, which are required in order to enable us to deal with your enquiry. It is entirely up to you to decide whether you take up these offers and enter your data. Any data that you do enter will be stored and processed solely for the purpose of dealing with your enquiry. When it comes to dealing with complaints about companies, this may if necessary include your data being passed on to the company concerned; if you are ordering any publications, this may involve your data being passed on to the service provider charged with delivering them.

Users have an opportunity to receive a BaFin newsletter. For this purpose users may provide their e mail address, to which newsletters will be sent until such time as the subscription is cancelled, which may be at any time, or until such time as BaFin suspends the offer, which may be at any time. Every newsletter contains details of how the user can unsubscribe from the newsletter service again. The e-mail address is deleted as soon as the newsletter subscription is cancelled by the user or the newsletter service is suspended by BaFin.

BaFin reserves the right to amend this Data Protection Statement. This page shows the latest version of the Data Protection Statement.

If users have any data protection questions, they can send their enquiries to the contact address given in the Imprint, quoting the reference "Data protection".
