Warnings and news reports for consumers

In Germany, banks, financial services providers and insurance undertakings are not allowed to conduct business without official authorisation. BaFin issues warnings about companies conducting unauthorised business and publishes the names of companies and persons against which/whom it has taken formal action. Another of BaFin’s tasks is to expose and investigate cases of market manipulation. Share prices that have been manipulated by means of deceptive buy recommendations can inflict major losses on investors. BaFin issues warnings if it receives material information on market manipulation. BaFin also publishes warnings and news reports on other consumer topics – including, for example, violations of the prospectus requirement and product intervention measures. Please note that some warnings and news items are only available in German.

Furthermore, the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has a portal on its website for publishing warnings and investor alerts that it receives from its members, i.e. from national supervisory authorities that have joined IOSCO.
