BaFin - Navigation & Service

Erscheinung:21.05.2025, Stand:updated on 15.05.2025 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection ipsum-lim.pro and ipsum-inv.co: BaFin warns consumers about websites and suspected identity fraud

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about the services offered on the identical websites ipsum-lim.pro and ipsum-inv.co. According to information available to BaFin, the websites are being used to offer financial, investment and cryptoasset services without the required authorisation.

The operator of the websites refers to itself as Ipsum Investment/Ipsum Investment Limited. A business address in London, United Kingdom, is provided. In communications with customers, the operator claims to be authorised by the European Financial Authority (FINAEU/FINA EU) and the European Financial Commission (EFC).

The FINAEU/FINA EU and the EFC, however, are not official or legitimised supervisory authorities at the national or supranational level. On 29 August 2024, BaFin issued a warning about FINA EU and its claim to be a European Supervisory Authority.

In the British company register (Companies House), a company named Ipsum Investment Partners UK Limited is registered under the London business address that is allegedly the registered office of the operator of the websites ipsum-lim.pro and ipsum-inv.co. BaFin has no information to suggest that Ipsum Investment Partners UK Limited is associated with the websites ipsum-lim.pro and ipsum-inv.co or the services offered on the websites. This may be a case of identity theft.

Anyone providing financial, investment or cryptoasset services in Germany may do so only with authorisation from BaFin. However, some companies offer these services without the necessary authorisation. Information on whether a particular company has been authorised by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.

BaFin is issuing this information on the basis of section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) and section 10 (7) of the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (Kryptomärkteaufsichtsgesetz).

Please be aware:

BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BundeskriminalamtBKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
