Erscheinung:29.07.2025 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection Prozesswerk.digital: BaFin warns public about dubious job offer
The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns the public against an advertisement for a remote work position as a support agent for trading systems (“Support-Mitarbeiter*in (m/w/d) für Handelssysteme - Home Office”) published on the website prozesswerk.digital. The job advertisement was not placed by Erhardt Digital GmbH, which has its registered office in Rottach-Egern. This is a case of identity theft.
The job involves the agent receiving payments from third parties in their own local bank account, converting this money into cryptocurrency and conducting trades with it. The funds transferred to the account of the “support agent” likely originate from third parties who have themselves fallen victim to criminals, particularly fraudsters. Providing commercial services for the transfer of cryptoassets is subject to an authorisation requirement.
BaFin has issued several warnings about this kind of work, which has often been advertised under the guise of an escrow service (“Treuhandservice”).
BaFin advises consumers that have been affected by such offers to inform law enforcement agencies, such as the police or public prosecutor’s office.
BaFin is issuing this information on the basis of section 10 (7) of the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (Kryptomärkteaufsichtsgesetz – KMAG).
Information on whether a particular company has been granted authorisation by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.
