Erscheinung:27.08.2025 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection infinaworld(.)com: BaFin warns consumers about website and identity theft
The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about the services offered on the website infinaworld(.)com. According to information available to BaFin, this website and certain WhatsApp groups are being used to offer financial, investment and cryptoasset services without the required authorisation.
The operators of the website infinaworld(.)com refer to themselves as “IFC International Finance Corporation” and claim to be a member of the World Bank Group. The operators’ claim is not true, however. This is a case of identity theft targeting the actual International Finance Corporation, IFC, ifc.org.
On the website infinaworld(.)com, Mr Hans-Georg Bremer is mentioned several times. He is described as being a renowned German stock market professor. BaFin is not aware of the existence of such a person.
Mr Bremer, Ms Jana Fischer and Mr Bernd Schäfer also run a WhatsApp group called IFC Finanzakademie8811, which refers to the website infinaworld(.)com. In addition, members of the group are asked to download an app called “WS-G”. In this WhatsApp group, they pass on recommendations for the purchase of financial instruments.
BaFin has been informed that the unknown perpetrators are also using in their business activities a purported BaFin letter entitled ”Formelle Mitteilung über das derzeit laufende Genehmigungsverfahren” (formal notification regarding the current approval process). These letters are falsified: BaFin does not send such notifications.
Anyone providing financial, investment or cryptoasset services in Germany may do so only with authorisation from BaFin. However, some companies offer these services without the necessary authorisation. Information on whether particular companies have been authorised by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.
BaFin is issuing this warning on the basis of section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) and section 10 (7) of the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (Kryptomärkteaufsichtsgesetz – KMAG).
Please be aware:
BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
