Erscheinung:12.11.2024, Stand:updated on 07.01.2025 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection gcmpro.org: BaFin warns consumers about website and identity fraud

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about the website gcmpro.org. According to information available to BaFin, financial and investment services are being provided on this website without the required authorisation.

The operator of the website claims to be based in London, United Kingdom. BaFin has recently become aware of a number of websites with almost identical content and has warned consumers about them. In each case, the website’s homepage displays the phrase: “Step Up Your Trading with [name of operator]”.

BaFin has become aware that the unknown perpetrators claim to their customers that the website is operated by GCM Investments UK LLP, London, United Kingdom. This information is false; it is a case of identity theft against the British company of that name. Neither does the investment firm GCM Grosvenor (Deutschland) GmbH, Frankfurt am Main, which is registered with BaFin, have any relationship whatsoever with the gcmpro.org website or its operators.

Anyone providing financial or investment services in Germany may do so only with authorisation from BaFin. However, some companies offer these services without the necessary authorisation. Information on whether particular companies have been authorised by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.

Theinformation provided by BaFin is based on section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (KreditwesengesetzKWG).

Please be aware:

BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BundeskriminalamtBKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
