Erscheinung:04.06.2025 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection Handel Swiss Cyprus Ltd and Handel Swiss UK Limited: BaFin warns consumers about the website handelswiss1.com and identity fraud
The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about the services offered by Handel Swiss Cyprus Ltd and Handel Swiss UK on the website handelswiss1.com. According to information available to BaFin, this website is being used to offer financial, investment and cryptoasset services without the required authorisation.
On the website, the operator claims to be registered with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) and the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). However, this is not the case. The registration numbers stated on the website have been assigned to Swissquote Capital Markets Limited, Cyprus, and Swissquote Ltd, UK. Neither of the companies has any connection whatsoever to the website handelswiss1.com or to the services it offers. These are cases of identity fraud. The FCA has published a warning in this regard.
It can be noted that one part of the website handelswiss1.com makes an inconsistent reference to another website: handelcfx.com. BaFin published a warning about the website handelcfx.com on 17 April 2025.
BaFin has information that the operator of handelswiss1.com previously used the websites handelswiss.com and handel-swiss.com, which have since been deactivated.
Anyone providing financial, investment or cryptoasset services in Germany may do so only with authorisation from BaFin. However, some companies offer these services without the necessary authorisation. Information on whether a particular company has been granted authorisation by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.
BaFin is issuing this information on the basis of section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) and section 10 (7) of the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (Kryptomärkteaufsichtsgesetz – KMAG).
Please be aware:
BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
